These super cute applique embellished jeans were made using small iron-on dragon flies and flower appliques. Simple embroidery techniques were also used to add further interest and enhance the look of the jeans. A flight path was stitched to give movement to the dragon flies and grass was added where the flowers appear to be planted.
You can substitute the dragon flies with butterflies if you'd like. Ladybugs sitting on the flowers would also look adorable. These appliques were store bought but you can also make your own using felt. To begin this project, find a good pair of jeans and some appliques.
To create these jeans, you will need the following:
Materials:
Good pair of baby jeans Iron-on Dragonfly appliques Iron-on Flower appliques Matching cotton embroidery floss (yellow and green) Large eye needle Pencil Scissors Iron
Instructions:
Step 1: Lay jeans on top of a flat surface and arrange the appliques as desired and iron.
Step 2: After ironing, lightly draw the flight path using pencil. This will serve as a guide for your embroidery. (See photo A.)
Step 3: Using the backstitch, sew using yellow embroidery floss the flight path of the dragon fly. (See photos B and photo C.)
Step 4: After you've completed the flight path. Using a straight stitch, stitch grass with varying heights. (See photo D.)
You have now created your custom embellished jeans!
