Handmade Baby Rattles

Making handmade baby rattles is a fun project and can be completed in no time. Rattles can also be attached to straps and used on the ankles to encourage your baby to kick. Use colorful fabrics and embellishments to make it appealing and interesting when making your rattles. Fabric remnants can be cut into a variety of shapes such as circles, squares, triangles, even animals.

Design Your Rattle

This is where you get to use your imagination and creativity. Once you decide on what kind of rattle to make, choose shapes that you can easily sew and are fun to look at. Use brightly colored fabrics and sew on eyes for animals and other embellishments taking care to secure properly. If you are making a wrist rattle, the strap of the rattle is important. Some wrist rattles are adjustable and have a Velcro strap. You can also use a scrunchy hair band, a wrist coil keychain without the metal ring, or a simple ribbon tie. Make sure that whatever you use is safe, not too tight, and can easily hold a rattle.
